Some paintings arrive all at once. This one took its time.
Joy in Bloom began with soft layers of pink and lavender, and then grew slowly, a little at a time, with patches of lime and teal and a tumble of jewel-like shapes along the bottom. Three flowers rose out of all that color, their petals outlined in white, each one a little different.
Look closely and you’ll see hints of the layers underneath peeking through.
This is the one I made for the days when you need a reminder to let joy take up a little more room.
INSPIRATION
Lately I’ve been noticing how flowers seem to lean in toward each other, almost like good friends. I wanted a painting that felt like that kind of happy conversation.
