What’s so special about Earth Day?

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

I love having a special day to celebrate our beautiful planet. I care so deeply for her with her ever-changing colors, textures, and beauty.

She fuels, inspires, and energizes me every day.

A few years back I started compiling a blog post of some of the simple things I do to live more sustainably in order to support and respect our beautiful planet. Our earth gives so much, so freely that it can be easy to get complacent and take her for granted and I want to treasure her beauty and help keep her healthy.

Every year I add a little to the list as I adapt my life to be more intentional with my choices for sustainability.

This year, along with some new resources I highlighted an amazingly inspiring documentary that made my heart SMILE SO BIG!

It’s called, “The Biggest Little Farm.”

The film documents a couple’s decade-long attempt at building one of the most diverse farms of its kind that works in complete coexistence with nature.

Not only is it unbelievably beautifully filmed it breathes JOY, hope, and inspiration to our world and will leave you feeling SO good!

If you are looking for ideas, tips and resources on how to live more sustainably I’ve got them for ya!

IN THE STUDIO

This is one of the pages I created in my painting journal this week. My intention with this practice is to just show up daily to see what wants to come through me.

I want to develop a better relationship with my intuition and to make time and space for new ideas and PLAY.

FEATURED PAINTING

“Poetry of the Day”

I painted “Poetry of the Day” some years back and it's finally making it to the shop as it was in my private collection and it still holds a lot of meaning for me.

I painted it during a time I was part of a Printmaking Society. I wanted to stretch myself to see how I could incorporate printmaking into my work. I carved my own stamps and embellished the painting with them which I think adds some texture and depth to the piece.

There is a line of text which is a found poem I created from words I cut out of an old book.

The poem reads:

"Mother Nature's brilliant display of color,

Brighter than the poetry of the senses.

Joyful simplicities to nourish body and soul by engaging our senses,

the highest reflection of your soul,

quiet, reflective, positive."

Happy Earth Day friends! 💞

May you find ways to celebrate earth day every day and find a special moment to be in nature and soak in her beauty today.
