Endless Summer Blooms & the Language of Flowers Book Review

Hello there my sweet friend,

Is summer lingering in your heart like mine? Although I know it's not possible I have been hoping for endless summer blooms in my garden. Since the flowers are getting sparse I have been savoring every last flower. This summer I had the pleasure of indulging in Vanessa Diffenbaugh's book, The Language of Flowers. It's about a girl who spent her childhood feeling alone and misunderstood within the foster-care system. Because of this her only connection to the world was through flowers and their meanings. She realizes that she has a gift for helping others through the flowers she chooses for the bouquets she makes for them. I loved that, and found myself pausing to reflect on my own life and how I am "picking" and creating "bouquets" within each of my relationships.

I think friends and experiences are the bouquets of our life and we get to decide how colorful and meaningful we want them to be.

Flower Meanings

Inspired by the book, I started digging deeper into the meanings of flowers and recorded them in a journal. I'm still learning and find it fascinating. One of my favorite flowers this time of year it is the zinnia. I always grow them in my garden. They are long lasting and come in so many happy colors. The hummingbirds and butterflies love them! They have several meanings which include: thoughts of friends, endurance, daily remembrance, goodness and lasting affection.

Friendship

I love thinking of flowers as a remembrance of friends as my friends are spread out all over the world. Because of the distance I don't always have as much time as I would like to catch up with them and like looking at my flowers and remembering time spent together. Good times never fade from my heart.

New Collection

All the colors from my garden have woven their way into a sweet new little collection of works on paper called, "Endless Summer Blooms" that I will be releasing next week. Here is a little peek at one of my favorite's from the collection called, "Summer's Dream". The sky is painted a beautiful blue like the ocean and pops of orange were added to make this a happy, optimistic painting. Each painting in this collection carries all the "happy vibes" and soft nuances of a warm, summer day. They will come lovingly signed, matted and ready to pop into a beautiful frame of your choice. These endless summer blooms will add a wonderful burst of color to your wall or make a nice addition to a vignette.

The collection will be released on Thursday, November 8th.

Reminders of the release will be going out to my list so I invite you to join if aren't on it already. :)

Sending you a day filled with sunshine & all the colors of the season!

love,

laura
